Active Release Therapy (ART)

ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

Every ART session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements. These treatment protocols - over 500 specific moves - are unique to ART. They allow providers to identify and correct the specific problems that are affecting each individual patient. ART is not a cookie-cutter approach.

Graston Technique

The Graston Technique® incorporates an evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively address scar tissue and fascial restrictions that affect normal function.

The technique uses specially-designed stainless steel instruments, along with appropriate therapeutic exercise, to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.

Graston technique has been proven to:

  • Decrease overall time of treatment
  • Foster faster rehabilitation/recovery
  • Reduce need for anti-inflammatory medication
  • Resolve chronic conditions thought to be permanent

Chiropractic Manipulation

The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement, as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the patient. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is an important part of chiropractic care. Massage therapy helps relax the muscles and increases blood circulation in the body which promotes healing in the muscles and tissues.

Active Rehabilitation

Once the initial pain and inflammation begins to subside, we will incorporate active rehabilitation therapies to help reduce pain, speed the healing process, and stabilize your condition. These exercises include stretching and strengthening and are designed with each individual’s specific needs in mind.
